Upcoming Speaking Engagements in Germany

I’m stoked. By this time next week, I’ll be off to Frankfurt to take part in a presentation at the world’s biggest book fair.

Live-Drawing The presentation, in which I’ll be live-drawing (yikes!), marks the launch of the German edition of my co-authored book Quirky Quarks: A Cartoon Guide to the Fascinating Realm of Physics (Springer, 2016). (What the heck is “Quirky Quarks”, and just how jam-packed is it with comics and drawings? Click HERE for an earlier post about it.)

Live Stream Good news. The Book Fair presentation will be Live Streamed on Twitter on Sunday October 23rd, from 11:30 am to 12:00pm (Central European Time Zone) which means you can join in and watch!

Joining In Yes, you can participate in the Live Stream! Here’s how:

Follow @SpringerNature on Twitter, and wait for the tweet that will be sent out minutes before the presentation is due to begin on Sunday October 23rd. Click on the Live Stream link built into the tweet, and you’re there. This will enable you to comment live and in real time as the event streams. So, yes, you can throw virtual rotten tomatoes at me while I draw (hee hee, please don’t!) Seriously, the presentation will be informative and fun— watch me doodle as my co-authors Dr. Benjamin Bahr, and Dr. Boris Lemmer explain mind-boggling concepts from the world of particle colliders.

More… My travels don’t end there. Following the book fair, I’ll be heading south to Stuttgart to be part of a talk/presentation in one of that city’s top ten rated book stores: The Buchhaus Wittwer.(Details below.) Unfortunately, this event will not be Live Streamed, however I plan on posting photos, and drawings, on social media.

Some of my initial sketches of protons and electrons. Aren't they cute? (These are not to be taken as accurate renderings of sub atomic particles)

Sketchbook Journaling
As you may guess from earlier blog articles, I’m a huge fan of journaling, and part of the fun of sightseeing is seeing the sights through the “eyes” of my sketchbook. The truth is, I’m not big on picture-taking. In my experience journal entries — be they drawings, or writings– capture memories, and experiences in ways that photos don’t. I’m looking forward to filling pages with all sorts of travel-induced scribblings…

But of course, this is merely a ploy to get you to follow me on Instagram, and Twitter, where I’ll be posting wild doodles, notations, flights of fancy — and more — in transit.
